Quadriplegic Driving A Wheelchair Accessible Van With An EMC Joystick

Published on Jul 6, 2012

I became a C4 Incomplete ASIA B Quadriplegic in 2003. After years of research, I purchased the AEVIT 2.0 Joystick in 2008. I received my van (a Ford E250) 8 months later, and I have been driving since 2009. I transferred all of the electronics into the Toyota Sienna in 2011. I love this van.

Day In a Wheelchair Challenge

For those asking how I got around while Caroline was in my chair: I can walk, (though rarely, and only for short distances). But in the beginning of this video (the part of her pushing up the hill), I was leaning against my car and forearm crutch while filming. At the part of her unloading from my car, I was sitting/kneeling on the ground with Bugsie. And in the grocery store I used one of their electric carts. (Please like this comment so it will show up at the top. A lot of people have been asking this, so hopefully I answered your questions). 🙂

C5, C6 Quadriplegic Driving With EMC Equipment

Uploaded on Jul 1, 2011

Me going over the EMC driving equipment I have installed in my van (2010 Dodge Caravan) that I got back in October. There are not that many videos on YouTube of this equipment, and I think it will help people with spinal cord injuries or other disabilities by showing them what equipment is out there that can help them drive and be more independent. Soldier Helps Save Man in Wheelchair on Train Tracks

Published on Jul 11, 2013

When Army specialist Michael Menchaca saw a man strapped in his wheelchair fall onto the D.C. subway tracks, he immediately risked his own life to help.

The unidentified man in the wheelchair rode off of the platform on July 4 after trying to inch closer to read a sign and landed precariously close to the 750-volt third rail, WJLA reported.

Without a moment to waste, Menchaca instantly jumped down, started working on releasing the man and another good Samaritan helped him carry the man to safety.

The harrowing rescue video also shows another man standing on the opposite side of the platform who jumped over both third rails to help, according to WJLA.

“I was just doing the right thing,” Menchaca, the humble hero told the news outlet.

Subway heroes, like Menchaca, are heralded for their speed and willingness to put themselves in danger to save a complete stranger.

When Christopher Knafelc saw a man walk off a subway platform in Philadelphia in March, he acted with the same bravery and swiftness as Menchaca, according to the Associated Press.

He jumped down onto the tracks, knowing a train was due to arrive in a few moments, and held the man’s head and neck until firefighters arrived.

“He didn’t thank me, but I know he was thankful,” Knafelc told the Daily News. “You know what I mean? In my heart I believe he was.”

Houston PD Slay Wheelchair Bound Double Amputee.

Published on 25 Sep 2012 by TheAlexJonesChannel

The pen may be mightier than the sword, but it’s definitely no match for a police officer’s service weapon.

The Houston PD demonstrated they’ll be perfectly obedient New World Order minions when this past weekend they executed a schizophrenic, wheelchair-ridden double amputee who was apparently threatening to attack officers with a pen.

According to the Associated Press, the man, whose name has not yet been released, used his wheelchair to corner “the officer inside a group home after officers were called to check on a disturbance.”

Jodi Silva, a spokesperson for Houston PD, says the officer couldn’t make out what the metal object the man waved was. It was later determined that the object was a pen.

After the mentally-ill man refused to comply with police orders to put the pen down, police opened fire without thinking twice to reach for the taser instead of the gun.

The schizophrenic man had a history of mental illness, according to the group home’s owner. He told the AP that the amputee had recounted stories of his lost leg and arm in the past.

The man — who had likely developed an embitterment issue, or “Ahab syndrome,” feeling anger over the unjust loss of his limbs, just as the famed fictional whaling ship captain in Melville’s classic tale — may also have been under the influence of prescribed anti-psychotic medications, which are known to have side effects of dysphoria, or severe depression.

Regardless, the one-armed, one-legged man was too much for police, who say he came “within inches to a foot” of them, threatening their lives.

The pen-wielding man’s shooting death illustrates the hot-headed, thoughtless psycho-hero mentality employed by adrenaline charged cops, a problem that has reached epidemic proportions and ingrained itself as a societal norm in our culture. (For instance, one could spend days, even weeks viewing police brutality videos on You Tube.)
